Fire Up Da Imu! 2010

Fire Up da Imu! is our annual signature event...a day of fun, food & football...Lahainaluna style! Last year's event was something special, as we presented the new field, track, & scoreboard to the West Maui community, and honored our special benefactor, Sue Cooley for her continued support and generosity.

The festivities began on historic Boarders' Field, the LHS Band, Cheerleaders, and dance group Ridiculust provided live entertainment, Cool Cat Cafe cooked up their award winning burgers and hot dogs, and the school kept it local with some chow fun and lau-lau plate. There was an expanded Keiki Fun Zone, complete with Castle Bouncer, Face Painting, Quarterback Challenge Game, Temporary Tattoo artist, and other games & prizes for the kids. Student groups took part by offering LHS logo merchandise.

At 12:30, the "Path of Champions" was unveiled...this is the temporary home for all the decorative brick pavers that have been purchased by LHS stadium supporters. Don't worry if you didn't purchase a paver yet, we will hold another ceremony for new bricks that will have to purchased in advance of next years "Fire Up da Imu!" Then it was on to the field for a blessing from Reverend Kukahiko...and recognition for all those who helped bring this phase of the project to this point.

Just prior to the inaugural game played on the surface, a contest between the Lunas Junior Varsity Football Team and the King Kekaulike Na Ali'i, Sue Cooley performed the games coin toss. This momentous event was followed by the Lunas Varsity and JV football team singing the school's alma mater...a real "chicken skin" moment.

The 4th Annual Fire Up da Imu pre-Season party is in the planning stages. This year promises to be another day of fun, food, & football..Lahainaluna style! Keep visiting this page for updates and we are planning for some special guests and other surprises.
